Polycrystalline Diamond (PCD) Tooling

Polycrystalline Diamond (PCD) is a diamond grit that are sintered with a metallic binder under extreme temperature and pressure. Developed in 1971 by General Electric’s Specialty Materials Division PCD (polycrystalline diamond) has proven itself as an industry favorite for over 40 years with its abrasion resistance and hardness. Being one of the hardest and most abrasion resistant materials used in cutting tools it is no surprise that PCD is used in a wide range of applications including sawing, routing, drilling and profiling to maximize the life of the tool and reduce production cost. PCD tooling is exceptionally resistant to wear in comparison to tungsten carbide tooling making PCD tooling last 25-50 times longer than tungsten carbide tooling; depending on the application. PCD tooling is ideal for cutting MDF, chipboard, particle board, HDF, fiberglass, and phenolic, along with many other composite and solid materials. PCD is available at Centric Inc. for a variety of applications. If you need longer tool life and cleaner cutting of material call or email Centric Inc. and get your quote for PCD tooling today!
